Last season our local track was holding a two man tag team endurance race. When I ask Parker if he wanted to race in it he said "yeah but I want to drive the entire race myself". I said OK! The rules stated that if driving by yourself you had to come into the pits when they opened, jump out of your kart, run around it and get back in. Parker jumped to an early 1/4 track lead and pulled into the pits when they opened, jumped out of the kart, ran around it, jumped back in, and took off. As he was pulling away I noticed his chest protector was hung up on his on his Ribtect seat. I tried to chase him down to tuck it in because I could see he was trying to fix it. He maintained his lead while driving left handed and trying to fix the chest protector with his right hand....he hates to be uncomfortable while driving! After the first lap of trying to fix it he came into the pits....I was waving him off because this would give the other teams the opportunity to over take him. Well, he pulled in, rolled past me so I could tucked the vest in and send him out into 2nd place! He had 3 or 4 laps to chase down the leader who was driving fast and driving a great line! He over took on the last lap and took the checkered.
The crowd was amazed! When we got back to the trailer I asked him "Parker did you know that you would get past if you re-pitted?" and he replied, "Yeah I did but I knew I would out drive the other team!". I just shook my head and laughed and said next stay out!!
Come now let us hear your story.
